In business and leadership, Covey changed the paradigm on productivity, efficiency, and mindset.
As an author, Covey is most recognized for his groundbreaking work in the book “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People,” which sold over 30 million copies worldwide. He later authored a follow-up book, “The 8th Habit: From Effectiveness to Greatness” and “The Leader in Me: How Schools and Parents Around the World Are Inspiring Greatness, One Child at a Time.” His work expanded to numerous other volumes on various topics, which significantly impacted his global audience.
Covey brought his entrepreneurial spirit to the world through FranklinCovey. In this endeavor, Covey shifted the dynamics of efficiency and productivity through education, consulting, mentoring, and training. By 2019, the organization reported annual revenues over $225 million.
As a distinguished academic, Covey was a noted professor at Brigham Young University and Utah State University. At BYU, he established the Master of Organizational Behavior program, and at Utah State, he led the Huntsman School of Business as the President.
Stephen Covey passed away from injuries suffered in an off-road biking accident in Utah.
