Abstract

We will introduce the power of Optimal design of experiments, covering the most popular I, D and A designs with practical examples.  The advantages and disadvantages of Optimal versus Factorial and Central Composite Response Surface Designs will be discussed. Optimal designs give maximum information for a specified model with minimal runs and can handle factor constraints and a mix of continuous and categorical factors. Whereas Classical designs have desirable properties such as orthogonality for Factorial and uniform precision and rotatability for Central Composite designs.  SigmaXL software will be used to demonstrate these designs.
