Bio | Jack Welch was one of the most influential and impactful business leaders in the modern era. Welch made his impact with his highly lauded career with General Electric (GE). He joined the organization in 1960 as a junior chemical engineer and mindfully built a solid career, navigating some of the most challenging roles in the organization. In 1981, Welch took over as the youngest chairman and CEO in the history of the organization. He immediately went to work, restructuring and refocusing the organization, most notably championing the Six Sigma program across the company. After his GE career, Welch went on to impact business and leadership programs on a global scale. He became a published thought leader, public speaker, and television personality. In 2009, he founded the Jack Welch Management Institute (JWMI) at Chancellor University, which Strayer University subsequently acquired. It has been named one of the Top 25 Online MBA Programs four years in a row (2017-2020) by the Princeton Review. The JWMI was also recognized as the most influential education brand on LinkedIn. Jack was a native of Peabody, Massachusetts, and passed from kidney failure in NYC. |
